Power BI - decision support for businesses of all sizes

Too many business-critical decisions are made based on gut feeling. Something that is often right, but far from always. To make informed decisions, you need factual information based on the data collected in your various systems. But collecting, compiling and comparing all this data into understandable reports takes time and resources, and the more manual steps you have to take, the more errors can occur. What you need is a business intelligence solution. But isn't that very complicated to implement - and expensive!

Why Business Intelligence is needed

The uptake of BI services has long been high. It has long been difficult to connect the data sources, and also complicated to process the data you get. In addition, from an infrastructure point of view, it has also been complex to implement, often with multiple servers. The licenses for the solution have therefore in many cases been expensive, which means that smaller companies have rarely been able to benefit from them.

Often you want your reports to be based on data from several different systems. If you can't connect the data sources, you need to manage the data from the sources manually, which means cutting and pasting between the systems. This is both time-consuming and significantly increases the risk of errors compared to automated processes. Another challenge has long been that when you produce a report - which is time-consuming - you still have to create a new report every time you need to report. A huge waste of time in the long run.

In cases where there is a decision-making basis, several different reports from a variety of sources, produced at different times, are often used. This means that data from the different sources are not synchronized in time when they are to be compared or otherwise related to each other. It is also not uncommon that the reports still lack statistics and data that you want your report to contain. Opportunities to produce standardized reports are often limited and customizations often take time to produce and are therefore costly. In addition, it has often been difficult to share reports with your employees internally, suppliers, customers or external partners.

Power BI gives you new opportunities

Power BI is a system that helps you make informed decisions. A report generator that you can link directly to a variety of sources, from which you get a common report. It also serves as a way to create user-based dashboards that show relevant KPIs in real time.

Power BI is a decision support cloud service from Microsoft, with a wide range of automated features that make it easy to process data from different sources. Data that you can relate to each other and compile into reports, helping you make better and more informed decisions.

The cloud service is part of Office 365, which means that you do not need any other infrastructure to make it work - everything is already in the service. Updates with associated new functionality occur automatically and the service thus only gets better and better over time. The service is also easy to implement, which reduces consulting costs, and the licenses are significantly cheaper than similar BI solutions have been in the past.

You can easily share automatically updated reports both inside and outside the organization and if your customer, partner or supplier has a Power BI license, you can access each other's reports and data through your respective accounts.

You don't have to create new reports "from scratch" every time. The report is created once and then only new data is added automatically until the next time you need the corresponding report. You also avoid manual input, which could otherwise lead to errors.

The chances of stakeholders actually reading the report are also increased by the fact that you can access it via your phone or other mobile devices. You can also embed the report on a SharePoint page, or in Teams, which further increases the chances of people actually reading it.

Fast, accessible and cost-effective decision support with Power BI

Many of the vendors providing this type of service, while embracing the new technology, retain their old mindset, making implementation and use unnecessarily costly and complicated with a lot of consulting time. As a result, both the functionality and benefits of the new technology take a back seat, while smaller companies are excluded from benefiting from BI solutions because they are too costly.

With the Power BI cloud service, you get a low-entry, high-availability decision support system where you can quickly and easily produce a report on your own. WeSafe helps you with the implementation and with creating links to your various data sources. We also offer training and can help you build reports if needed.
