Alnab received help to drive digitalization forward

Alnab wanted to move from reactive IT work with a focus on costs to a clear digitalization strategy that creates value. Alnabis a trading company that offers technically advanced system solutions. Since its inception in 1975, Alnab has grown to become one of Sweden's leading suppliers to the process industry.

The challenge

Focus on costs instead of value

Lars works as an operations manager at Alnab. He previously worked for a larger organization with a more structured IT environment, so he quickly realized that Alnab faced many challenges when it came to how they worked with IT.

“At Alnab, they focused a lot on what things cost instead of what you got for your money. It was a reactive approach where you bought hours from the IT supplier when something went wrong,” says Lars.

In addition to a reactive work process, the invoices were itemized in a way that was difficult to understand, and the costs were high without them understanding what they were actually paying for.

“The previous supplier had been with Alnab for 25 years, and my impression is that it was like an old marriage where, somehow along the way, they had forgotten why they chose each other,” says Lars.

The solution

A holistic approach to the digitalization journey

Upheads first came into contact with Alnab when Alnab needed help setting up a functional platform where they could share information with their staff. This marked the beginning of a collaboration that has since grown to the point where Upheads is now Alnab's complete IT supplier, both in terms of software and hardware.

“The quote we received was clear, and Upheads explained what they were charging for in a simple and effective way. They found a level that suits us, and I feel I can trust them. They don't just try to sell us unnecessary things, which I really appreciate,” says Lars.

Right from the start, we were able to help Alnab eliminate an unnecessary IT cost of approximately SEK 100,000 per year. The money went toward storing data they had no use for on a server at their previous IT supplier.

Alnab also has ambitious growth plans ahead of its 50th anniversary in 2025. To achieve its goals, it needs to streamline and modernize its entire IT environment. This is a digitalization journey that Upheads and Alnab are undertaking together.

“We are currently making major changes within the company and updating our website, creating a customer portal and a PIM system, as well as upgrading to Business Central together with Upheads and in close collaboration with Goodfellows Business. It is both challenging and inspiring at the same time. Upheads is helping us shape our digitalization journey, and their services are incredibly valuable to us in enabling us to achieve our growth targets," concludes Lars.
