VBK is a technical consultant in construction design, project management, and maintenance, which is quick to keep up with technical developments in the industry and is often involved in high-profile construction projects around Sweden.

VBK worked for a long time with an IT partner who was also their software supplier. They also had their own employee who acted as IT support. But as VBK grew, they needed a hands-on, knowledgeable IT partner with a strategic, holistic view of the IT environment.

“It was important for us to have the right chemistry with our partner. A partner we could work closely with to build a system for the future. We found that partnership in Goodfellows – now Upheads,” says Anna Hallberg, IT Manager at VBK.

Goodfellows – now Upheads – has been responsible for all operational IT at VBK since 2013. We manage operations and are responsible for on-site and remote support and monitoring.

“Whereas we used to spend all our time putting out fires, our IT work now involves working strategically with our environment and proactively developing our systems,” says Anna.

We also run change projects at VBK and act as a strategic sounding board for management on IT issues. To ensure even closer cooperation, we are on site at VBK three half-days a week, which is greatly appreciated by employees and management alike.

“We like having an IT resource with us who is familiar with the environment. One of the things we appreciate about Goodfellows – now Upheads – is their corporate philosophy. They place great emphasis on the well-being of both customers and employees, which is exactly how we want to work at VBK,” says Anna.

Previously, VBK had some problems with sluggish systems and malfunctioning servers, but Anna feels that they now have a good environment. The file server was replaced last year and Office 365 has been introduced. In the future, the servers will be moved to the cloud, as the aim is to have as few servers as possible at VBK.
