Alnab faced growing demand for quick and technical responses from its customers. Its wide range of technical products requires specialist knowledge, which made it difficult for the sales team to always respond to customers quickly and professionally when they became dependent on knowledge from key personnel and manufacturers. Recurring tasks and technical questions took time and also resulted in lost sales time.
"In an age where information is so readily available, our customers expect qualified answers much faster. We therefore wanted to make things easier for our sales staff and make cutting-edge knowledge easily accessible to everyone in the team, primarily to shorten response times to customers," says Martin Johnston, Team Leader Valves & Automation at Alnab.
Solution
AI chatbot that provides the entire sales team with cutting-edge knowledge
During the first workshop with Goodfellows—now Upheads—several potential AI projects were identified, but the sales team's need for quick access to specialist knowledge became the top priority. With a clear strategy, the project went from idea to implementation in just a few weeks. The solution was Louie, an AI-driven knowledge bank, named in tribute to a former colleague with extensive experience. Louie collects and generates answers from product information, technical descriptions, and quotation texts, enabling the sales team to provide quick and qualified responses that meet customer expectations.

Louie has quickly become an indispensable resource, well received by the sales team and rapidly exceeding the target of 1,000 uses per month. This AI solution has streamlined the workflow and made the sales team less vulnerable. Alnab now plans to expand Louie's functionality to automate the management of prices and stock levels, among other things, and enable automatic response templates for salespeople.
