The challenge

An industry facing major digital challenges

In an industry facing major digital challenges and opportunities, Lagerhaus chose to outsource its CIO to Upheads. This decision came after several years of struggling to recruit the right person for the role.

When we began our collaboration with Lagerhaus, there was no explicit long-term IT strategy in place, and technical challenges in stores meant that the focus was often on putting out fires rather than looking ahead.

Lagerhaus also lacked common tools and opportunities for effective remote collaboration on information and documents, which often meant unnecessarily complicated workdays for employees.

Three months after Upheads entered the picture, the world was hit by a pandemic. The retail sector was in crisis, and it was more important than ever to optimize costs and ensure that the company could survive for a longer period of time when people stopped shopping and sales figures fell rapidly.

The solution

Streamline and optimize processes

The very first thing Upheads did was to introduce Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint, and other tools Lagerhaus needed to be able to work together more smoothly within the company. We trained all employees in how to use the various tools and moved parts of our IT support to Lagerhaus.

The project was completed in 2.5 months, just a couple of weeks before COVID-19 forced everyone to work from home. But thanks to solid work on digitization, the entire process went smoothly. While other companies were caught off guard by the pandemic, Lagerhaus was already prepared and was able to start working from home without interruption.

Since then, Upheads has been involved in major changes at Lagerhaus to streamline and optimize processes and increase their digital presence.

Upheads and Lagerhaus are collaborating on several digitization projects focused on preparing Lagerhaus for continued growth and ensuring that we are doing the right things in various IT areas.
