Store your data in Sweden with Microsoft's new sustainable data center

In November 2021, Microsoft opened its new data centers in Sweden. This means that as a Microsoft customer, you now have the opportunity to move your data from your current data center in Europe to a Swedish data center. In addition, the new centers are among the best in the world. A lower climate impact, faster speeds and lower waiting times are just some of the benefits the move brings to your business.

Swedish companies of all sizes and industries have long demanded cloud services that are secure and scalable, but also available locally. And now it has become a reality. Through Microsoft's Swedish data center, you can now use Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. And more services are on the way. So now you have every opportunity to manage your business-critical applications, improve your collaboration and accelerate your digitalization with local resources.

A move with many benefits

There are many good reasons to move your data to a Swedish data center.

Three of the most important are:

  • Your data is stored in Sweden
  • Swedish data centers can take full advantage of the Swedish IT infrastructure. This means you can enjoy faster speeds and lower latency when using Microsoft services.
  • The data centers located in Sweden use only local renewable energy. This gives your business the opportunity to reduce your climate impact in the future.

To this you can also add high data security and high availability. Among other things. In short, a really good solution for your company's data storage. And the environmental aspect is important at a time when digitalization is growing at a rapid pace and thus consuming more and more energy. Microsoft is one of the IT industry's leading companies when it comes to sustainable climate work and their new Swedish data centers, located in Gävle, Sandviken and Staffanstorp, are among the most advanced and sustainably designed data centers the company has today.

What is important to know?

Now that Microsoft has opened data centers in Sweden, they are offering their customers based here to move their data. This is a one-time offer and does not involve any additional costs beyond our administrative fee. And it pays to take advantage of this opportunity. If you want to migrate your data at a later stage, you will have to pay for it yourself.

If you want to move your data, the earliest date is 1 June 2022 and the latest 1 June 2024. Neither you nor we will know in advance when the migration will take place. But you don't have to worry - everything happens in the background with little impact on your daily work.

What data is being moved?

Microsoft is moving the following services and all the data contained therein:

  • Exchange Online - all your mailboxes are moved
  • SharePoint Online - your entire SharePoint environment moves with you
  • OneDrive - everyone's OneDrives and all data is moved
  • Teams - all messages are carried in your channels and private chats.
