Microsoft is making license changes in 2022 - here's what you need to know
Microsoft is making changes to its CSP program. The new license form is called New Commerce Experience and will be available from January 2022.rom March 1, 2022 onwards there will also be a price increase on certain Microsoft licenses (see below). The changes will affect both how you as customers buy and how we as a partner to Microsoft deliver licenses in the future. SOf course will we at WeSafe will help our customers find the best possible solution for the changes.
These conditions and price changes will apply to all transaction models offered by Microsoft. Microsoft justifies the price increase by saying that they have introduced many new features in their services in recent years and that they have not increased their license prices since 2013. The changes are as follows services. Read more about Microsoft's news here!

CSP licenses today
Today, our customers pay their licenses monthly and can increase or decrease the number and change the type of license freely. All customers have an annual date on their contracts but there are no fees associated with reducing or removing their licenses.
New customers will not be able to choose traditional CSP licenses from March 2022 and existing customers will not be able to stay after their anniversary. The licenses will not be converted automatically but all customers will have to make an active choice before the anniversary of when the current licenses expire. Of course, we make the move free of charge for our customers and it does not affect any functions but only the transaction model.

New Commerce Experience
- Monthly contracts
With a monthly commitment in New Commerce, it works largely as it does today, but Microsoft adds a price premium of 20 percent to the list price.
- 12-month contract
If you choose to bind your licenses for 12 months, you get Microsoft's list prices. You can choose between annual and monthly payments. You can always add licenses and increase the form of the license, but not less.the number of licenses or the form of the license. This means that reductions and changes in the type of license take place on the anniversary of the agreement.
- Mix
If you want to keep the cost down while being flexible in reducing the number of licenses, you can combine licenses with 12-month contracts and licenses with monthly contracts.
- Azure
All our customers with Azure are already running New Commerce and no changes are planned for Azure.

Campaigns
Microsoft is offering two campaigns starting in January 2022:
Annual Term promotion - The promotion provides a 5% discount on the current CSP price list price and is valid from January 2022 to June 2022 (subject to Microsoft's option to extend the promotion). The promotion applies to both annual and monthly payments.
Monthly Term Promotion - The campaign gives you whoprefer who do not want to commit annually but want the flexibility of monthlymonth contracts offered, a 20% discount on the new monthly price from January 2022 to June 2022.
Lowest license price plan - Bind the licenses in January and February.
Since New Commerce is launched in January 2022, and the price increase takes place from March 2022, you can lock in your prices for 12 months in January and February, before Microsoft's price increase takes place. In addition, Microsoft has a campaign with a 5 percent extra discount for all customers who bind their licenses by June 2022.
This means that if you bind during January or February, you get a 5 percent discount on all licenses that are included in the campaign, which includes all basic licenses such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3 and E5. The complete list will be announced in January.
If you do thisyou will 5 percent discount, delay Microsoft's price increase for 12 months and avoid the 20 percent surcharge for running a monthly contract. We believe this option will suit most customers.
In our license portal, the WeSafe Cloud Marketplace, you will still be able to manage your licenses but then New Commerce is new, it will take some time of development before all functions become available. Microsoft releases its APIER in January and the license portal will be rebuilt to handle New Commerce. Hopefully this this work will be completed in February.ebruary or March. Read more about WeSafe Cloud Marketplace here.
What do you need to do now?
I january we will contact all customers in order to assist with the most as cost-effective plan as possible before the changes take effect.. You will need to sign a new license agreement with us that reflects the new conditions. This will be done digitally. To make optimal use of the discounts, we will perform the conversion during February.ebruary month. If you have any questions before then, you are of course always welcome to contact us.
What happens if you do nothing?
If you do not make an active choice for the license changes, your your old will be terminated on the anniversary of the current contract and take on the status "Expired" in Microsoft 365. This will happen from June 30, 2022 at the earliest. In other words, it is important to take a stand so as not to risk being unlicensed. We will seneedless to say send several reminders to you before this happens but since there are many customers to be converted, we appreciate if as many as possible respond during January.
