Are you ready for Windows 11?

With the launch of Windows 11 on October 5th, Microsoft's operating system has a lot of features to discover. Most people use the same features they've used before, while others like to explore what's new and what they can benefit from. We'd like to share what's worth considering, both for users and from a business perspective.

What is new?

Windows 11 offers many innovations that focus on increasing end-user productivity in a new and flexible experience. The operating system is built on the same foundation as Windows 10 and designed to support both today's hybrid and cloud environment by delivering the most reliable and secure operating system ever.

Why Windows 11?

The launch of Microsoft's new operating system is in line with the vision of simplifying for both users by increasing productivity, while allowing companies to more easily monitor and manage their devices.

Windows 11 is built on the same foundation as Windows 10, so the investments made in update and device management tools live on. Windows 11 also maintains the promise of application compatibility made with Windows 10, complemented by programs like App Assure.

What are the opportunities for the organization?

Previous operating system launches have involved a struggle between renewal and maintaining the functionality and support of the apps used. A transition from Windows 10 to 11 should be free of these challenges. However, if you are planning to move from an earlier version than Windows 10, we recommend taking preventive measures by testing the functionality first.

The requirement that stands out between Windows 10 and 11 is that the latter requires support for TPM 2.0, a requirement imposed to increase security. When updating, the operating system will flag if your device does not meet the requirements. Full requirements can be found here.

As with the launch of any operating system, both the visuals and functions change. It can therefore be a good idea to prepare your users through preparation and training.

What solutions are available?

If a company wants to test functionality and prepare training, WeSafe recommends allowing a small group to act as test pilots while the remaining users are blocked from updating their operating systems. This is easy to enable with device management, while providing the best possible conditions for the organization.
